As poor as Watford were at Anfield today, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side were in imperious form as they thrashed the Hornets to top the Premier League table.

The Reds could have scored 10 or more against Walter Mazzarri's sorry side as they reached the league summit for the first time this season, and scored some breathtaking goals as they recorded their biggest win of the season.

They were aided by some comical Watford defending along the way, while Heurelho Gomes, and then Costel Pantilimon, were left blameless between the posts.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said after the game that any team in the division would have struggled to deal with the Reds in current form.

"I feel as though when we're on it and we perform well, it's very difficult for teams to stop," he said. "And that's not just going forward but defensively, but with the front three too.

"There's a long way to go in the season though, and we've got to keep performing like that every week."
