Daryl Janmaat urged his teammates to forget their 6-1 defeat at Liverpool after admitting they were "much better" than the Hornets at Anfield today.
The Dutch defender scored his first Watford goal in what was no more than a consolation in the North West after he and his side had faced a battering from Jurgen Klopp's table toppers.
The result could not have come at a worse time for the Hornets, who will have to wait a fortnight before they can look to bounce back against last season's Premier League champions Leicester at Vicarage Road.
After the game, Janmaat said the team needed to put the result aside ahead of the international break, and spoke glowingly of the quality of the Liverpool side whose football was on another level to Watford's throughout.
He said: "It's always hard to take a 6-1 defeat. Showed they were much better than us.
"The quality on pitch today was the difference; Liverpool were much better than us.
"They are good - but we could have done more. 6-1 is too big a defeat. We must analyse it, it's a hard defeat but it is only one game.
"We got stronger near the end, but at least we kept going. We have to forget about it. It's Liverpool away and they are a very good team."
