Juan Carlos Paredes is attracting interest from a number of clubs as the out-of-favour Ecuadorian looks to end his Watford stay, his agent has revealed to the Watford Observer.

The 29-year-old defender was not named in the Hornets’ Premier League squad and his only appearance since Walter Mazzarri’s summer arrival came during their 2-1 defeat by Gillingham in August.

Paredes was a regular in Watford’s promotion season in 2014/15 and made 17 top-flight appearances last season; but even with a change of heart this campaign, he cannot be registered for the first team until January.

This week, he has been linked with Mexican club Tigres who are on the lookout for a new right-back, and a club official hinted in a recent interview the Watford man may be on their radar to fill the position.

Paredes’ agent, Israel Rolim do Carmo, told the Watford Observer he was more interested in a move to Europe, but had no set destination in mind.

“We are waiting for some European clubs for him,” he said. “We have some good options, but not as many as we want yet.”

The defender did play the full 90 minutes last night as Ecuador were beaten 2-1 in Uruguay in their latest World Cup qualifier.

The result leaves Ecuador fourth in the ten-nation qualifying group after 11 matches ahead of their home clash with Venezuela on Tuesday.

They thumped Bolivia 5-0 yesterday but on-loan Watford forward Adalberto Penaranda had to settle for being an unused substitute.
