Watford are considering a move to bring Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury back to the club next month.

The Hornets' injury crisis has crippled them and forced them into immediate action in the transfer window.

The potential return of Lansbury to Vicarage Road underlines the extent to which the injury list has decimated Walter Mazzarri's squad.

Lansbury made 39 appearances on loan at Watford during the 2009-10 Championship campaign.

The 26-year-old has scored six goals in 19 appearances this season for a struggling Forest side.

His contract expires in the summer and a number of clubs including Newcastle United, Derby County and the Hornets have been linked with a cut-price deal.

With ten players unavailable for the Tottenham game on Sunday and two more heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations next week, the need for new arrivals at Vicarage Road is becoming desperate.

Lansbury would also count as a home grown player which would be a significant advantage as the Hornets would not need to alter their Premier League squad and remove a foreign player.
