Walter Mazzarri hopes the inclusion of young players such as Brandon Mason proves Watford do not have to always sign foreign "players for a crazy amount of money".
The Hornets gave a first start to defender Mason in Saturday's win over Burton Albion while Michael Folivi and Carl Stewart have made their debuts in the last week.
Watford have used the global transfer market extensively in recent years under the Pozzos but their head coach believes it is still very important to give players from their academy a chance.
Mazzarri said: “We had Mason with us when we went on pre-season and for young players it’s very important for them to be with the first team and make their debuts. This will help them grow as football players.
“Like you say sometimes it’s fundamental to see what we have at home in our house so that we can make these players grow and don’t always go abroad to sign players for a crazy amount of money."
