Watford boss Walter Mazzarri insists Brice Dja Djedje did something incredible after the debutant returned from injury ahead of schedule.

The defender was brought on after 60 minutes in Saturday's home win over Burton having only recently returned to training.

It was Djedje's first appearance for the club following his arrival from Marseille last summer.

A foot injury has kept the 26-year-old on the sidelines and resulted in him being left out of the Hornets' Premier League squad.

But fans finally got the chance to see him in action at Vicarage Road in the FA Cup tie and the Watford boss believes there is a lot more to come from the Ivory Coast international.

Mazzarri said: “Djedje did something unexpected and incredible because he was supposed to back in full training on the ninth [January] and he managed to play. He wanted to be here.

"Of course he needs more training but we know what kind of player he is and with the training and more minutes he will be back as the player we all know."

Djedje is able to play in the league this month with no restrictions placed on squads until the start of February.
