Watford have been linked with a move for Fiorentina striker Mauro Zarate.

According to reports in Italy, Walter Mazzarri's side are interested in bringing the out of favour forward to Vicarage Road.

The 29-year-old has been limited to seven appearances in Serie A this season and is believed to be keen on another chance to return to England.

Zarate scored seven goals during 29 appearances at West Ham during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaign.

The Argentine forward also had a brief spell on loan at QPR and netted four goals in 14 appearances for Birmingham City nine years ago.

The Hornets have struggled for goals recently with Troy Deeney scoring just once since the start of October.

Watford have already brought in striker Stefano Okaka from Italy last summer and the club are expected to add to the arrival of Tom Cleverley before this month's transfer window shuts.
