Watford midfielder Adlene Guedioura was unable to prevent Algeria losing 2-1 to Tunisia in the Africa Cup of Nations.
An own goal from Aissa Mandi handed Tunisia the lead five minutes into the second half before Naim Sliti doubled the lead from the penalty spot.
Sofiane Hanni pulled one back late on but it was not enough for Algeria.
Guedioura was substituted in injury time and the loss leaves his side with a slim chance of progressing from the group.
