Watford’s 4-2 win over West ham United will go down as one the games of the season and the Hornets will look to replicate the display at home.

Trailing 2-0 at London Stadium in September, goals from Odion Ighalo, Troy Deeney, Etienne Capoue and Jose Holebas turned the game on its head.

A lot of water has passed under the two club’s respective bridges since then and the Hammers have moved on considerably from their early season teething problems.

Six wins in their last 10 Premier League outings have taken Slaven Bilic’s side clear of the relegation zone, and they arrive at Vicarage Road two points clear of Watford in 10th.

That run has been spearheaded by the goals of Andy Carroll, but the England international is likely to miss out with a groin injury suffered in a 3-1 win over Southampton.

Slaven Bilic refused to rule the burly centre-forward out even after admitting he was unable to run during the club’s warm weather training in Dubai last week.

Carroll has four goals in his last four league outings and his absence will be sorely missed by United.

The Irons are likely to persevere with Michail Antonio in attack, while the fit-again Andre Ayew could also be in contention to start in Carroll’s stead.

Similarly to West Ham, Watford have enjoyed their own mini renaissance in recent weeks and were unbeaten in four league games prior to losing 2-0 at Manchester United last time out.

Back-to-back wins against Arsenal and Burnley provided the turning point in Walter Mazzarri’s side’s season and have eased fears of a relegation fight.

They could move ahead of the Hammers in the table with a victory, which would also see the Hornets complete their first ever league double against the East Londoners.

Watford will fancy their chances of finding the net against a porous Hammers defence, which has shipped the most goals of any side in the top half of the table with 43.

The Hammers looked to tighten up defensively with the arrival of Jose Fonte in the January transfer window, but the Portuguese has yet to feature in a clean sheet.

Indeed United have conceded eight goals in the three league matches he has played in so far.
