Head coach Walter Mazzarri does not believe Watford's comeback win at West Ham United will have any bearing on this weekend's clash.

Watford’s first victory under Mazzarri came in a dramatic 4-2 win at West Ham despite trailing 2-0 during the first half.

But the Italian does not expect this weekend’s game to have any bearing on it and thinks the Hammers, tenth in the league, have improved significantly since the September clash.

He said: “We cannot really compare today with that game. It seems a long time ago now but West Ham had some problems in that period and we did a very good game after losing at the beginning.

“In my opinion now they are doing very well and this is a completely different time so we cannot really compare.”

The Hornets face back-to-back home games against West Ham and Southampton with four of their next five matches due to take place at Vicarage Road.

Mazzarri said: “It’s very important [the next few matches] but most important is to not commit any mistakes and remain focused.

“We have two home games and have to take advantage of this in order to get the maximum result. This is very important for us.”
