Watford owner Gino Pozzo has no interest in replacing head coach Walter Mazzarri in the summer, sources close to the club have revealed.

National press reports earlier in the week stated Mazzarri, who has often divided the Hornets' fan base this season, was fighting for his position at the club.

It was suggested his future had been placed into jeopardy because he is unwilling to conduct media interviews in English, and due to the style of football on display at Vicarage Road.

But the Watford Observer understands while the Italian's communications present an issue for Pozzo - who has encouraged his head coach to depart from his native tongue more regularly - he has no concerns over Mazzarri's approach on the pitch and is keen to retain his services for next season.

Such a position would be a first for the Hornets in recent years, as they have not started one season with the same head coach who ended the last since Beppe Sannino in 2014 - and then, he was given his marching orders five games later.

The club believe the only sticking point over the Italian's future may come from a desire to return back to his home country.

Mazzarri is content at Watford and buys into Gino Pozzo's long-term plan for the club, but is believed to be open to the idea of a return to Serie A should the right job arise.

The heirarchy's position on the former Inter and Napoli boss is not set in stone with eight games remaining, but only a drastically poor end to the campaign will leave him under threat.
