Watford have reportedly stepped up their chase for Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs, after West Brom withdrew their interest in the England defender.

Gibbs is out of contract at the end of the season and the Gunners have made clear they do not see the 27-year-old as part of their long-term plans, following the arrival of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke.

Watford and West Brom have both expressed their interest in the 10-cap international, but Baggies boss Tony Pulis later revealed he was looking elsewhere after a £10 million bid was rejected.

The Hornets would get close to their club-record fee, of £13 million for Roberto Pereyra, should they outbid the figure already turned down by Arsenal.

Head coach Marco Silva is seeking genuine competition for Jose Holebas at left-back, with central defender Miguel Britos used in his absence last season.
