Tommie Hoban’s injury worries have continued after the Watford defender confirmed he has undergone surgery on a knee injury.
The 23-year-old took to Instagram to reveal he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in training.
It is the latest blow for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, whose career has been repeatedly punctuated by injuries in recent years.
Hoban, who spent last season on loan with Blackburn, making 17 appearances and scoring one goal, has vowed to fight back from the injury after a successful operation.
He wrote: “Been one thing after another the last few years and this time it's been hard to take. But I know I'll come back from this and eventually I'll get to where I want to be.”
