ETIENNE Capoue believes Watford will have enough to overcome Newcastle United providing they match the performance shown in Monday's loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

Watford produced a display full of attacking intent, but failed to show the clinical edge to take anything from the game which ended 2-0 to the hosts at Wembley.

Capoue refused to dwell on the result and instead chose to highlight the manner in which Watford caused Spurs problems which he felt would reap greater rewards against United.

"We created a lot of chances and this is important for the team, the strikers and the attacking midfielders," Capoue said.

"We kept creating chances against a big team, so we are in the right way and we are going to score on Saturday I feel it.

"We managed to create chances and if we keep doing it we will begin to get results.

"We want to be focused on Newcastle and if we play like that we will get the points against Newcastle."

Monday night's loss saw Watford force a number of smart stops from Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, with Richarlison, Andre Gray and Abdoulaye Doucoure all working the Tottenham skipper.

Watford undermined their own cause as Orestis Karnezis' error gifted Spurs an opener and they conceded minutes after the half-time break.

Capoue was quick to praise his compatriot in the Tottenham goal, and also accepted that the Hornets made life easier than required for their opponents.

"Lloris is a top keeper in a top team and is one of the best in the world, which he showed today," he said.

"Both goals are at the wrong time because we were doing well, but this is football. Every goal is about mistakes or something going wrong. The intent was there though."
