Lee Mason will take charge of Watford’s final game of the season when Watford take on Manchester United on Sunday.

With Watford’s top flight status secure and United’s focus firmly on the FA Cup final, there will be little on the line at Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, the Hornets will be hoping for a change of recent fortunes with Mason in charge as they look to end a run of two games without a win.

Their most recent game under his watch came in the 3-1 loss at Manchester City in January and a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace also carries painful memories for Watford fans.

The visit to Selhurst Park ended in a 2-1 defeat and saw Watford end the game with 10 men after Tom Cleverley was dismissed for two bookable offences.

Watford’s only other game with Mason as the man in the middle proved to more productive - Richarlison’s 90th minute effort sealing a 2-1 win over Swansea in September.

Sunday’s hosts will not look too fondly upon Mason’s presence at Old Trafford either, after his sole game in overseeing Jose Mourinho’s men ended in a 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town.
