Watford are reportedly nearing a €10 million deal to sign Bologna left-back Adam Masina.

Talks between the two sides are said to be progressing at a considerable speed as the Hornets look to add defensive reinforcements to their ranks.

They do, however, face competition for the 24-year-old from Serie A side Lazio and Sevilla were also linked with a move last summer.

Watford are eager to add competition at left-back, where Jose Holebas has been a near-cert to start in recent years.

The 33-year-old is in the winter of his career and Marvin Zeegelaar, who is Watford’s only other option at left-back, looked well out of his depth in his first term in the Premier League.

Brandon Mason was viewed as a potential option for the future, but failed to make an impression while on loan at Dundee United and was subsequently released on Thursday.

Masina was a key part of the Bologna squad last season and made 34 appearances as they finished 15th in the table.
