Ashley Young’s journey to the World Cup via Vicarage Road has been a long and at times challenging one.

The 32-year-old made his first strides in the professional game with the Hornets, playing 110 times before earning a move to Aston Villa and subsequently Manchester United.

Having been picked up by Watford at the age of nine, Young was told he was too small to make it in the professional game seven-years later.

However, He refused to give in and ultimately earned a scholarship with the Vicarage Road club after continuing to train away from the rest of Watford’s academy prospects.

Those same battling qualities have seem him re-establish himself in the Manchester United squad after falling out of favour and earn a place at his first World Cup at the age of 32.

Teaming up with Lidl, those who know Young’s route to the top best, including ex-Watford men Chris Cummins and Nigel Gibbs, retell Young’s journey to Russia 2018 in the video below.
