herts_hornet - I have no doubt you are a long suffering 30 year hornet, anyone who has followed them that long HAS to be long suffering, or we'd go to support a better club. That's why I cannot take your threat seriously, sorry. In those thirty years you will have seen all this before time and time again, going up, going down, losing bankers and winning the unwinnable, and how many 'players we cannot afford to lose' have we lost over that time - well all of them actually, through sales and retirements. TS is no different. How annoyed were we when Marlon went, now most would not want him back even on loan. Same with Barnes. TS has had two good seasons since rejoining us. But if he is as is being suggested asking for higher wages and that is speculation, then he knows our situation and it is down to him as well. If he wants to stay and give all for us, he needs to make a reasonable demand. What I agree is we have to get a reasonable sum for him if we manage to sell him. Tell me what would be more honourable in your view. To sell him cheaply but get some money, or make him honour hs contract and lose any fee for him when he walks off on a free?
worhting_hornet ,yes have seen it all that is true and love WFC very much BUT would never have renewed my season ticket this year if Simpson and co were still there ,so why did i, well i believed in Jimmy Russo i liked his passion and obvious annoyance at what had happened to our great club ,i believed he would find investment and help move the club forward,to some extent he has ,however we have sold Williamson 500k,A very promising young lad in Theo Robinson for 250k! ,sold Priskin for 1.7 if we believe everything we are told although Jimmy fails to confirm this ! BROMBY 400K we have no longer on the wage bill ,POOM,ROSE,CORK,RASI
    AK CAUNA,BANGURA,AVINEL
    ,SEARLE,STEPANOV,GAR
ETH WILLIAMS,HOYTE, yet we have bought in only a left back in Travner ,scott severin who is poorer than we already had my opinion but there you go and Danny graham which seemed a good deal until the total mess up by somebody at the club in taking us to a tribunal having offered a ridiculous 25k for a decent player ,we were made to look total fools and Carlisle left laughing all the way to the bank with far more than they expected ,a sensible offer around 100k would have been accepted ,this for a club like ours that pleads poverty now we have a bigger bill than no doubt budgeted for ,ashton could not have made a worse job and that is really saying something ,so you see with Jimmy now practically touting Tommy around i have lost my optimsim ,i know and Jimmy confirms it that Tommy has NOT been offered ANY sort of contract extension ,so much for a loyal legend of a player AND still by far and away our best player just watch the effort he puts in for this club AND whatever anyone thinks ,if a choice of WFC or Reading with same contract offer on the table he would sign for Watford i know this believe it or not ,so there you go Worthing_hornet if we continue to sell our best players and bring in poorer cheaper versions i will go quietly and use my hard earned cash for something else and support from a far ,i have done 30 odd years loyal service but the way this club has treated it fans over the last few years sickens me ,we are paying for incompetance of the people running the club, i thought things were improving but the Danny Graham case proves we have learn't nothing , so i say again if a player that loves this club ,gives everything ,basically wants to stay but needs to secure his family's welfare,is by far and away the best player we have ,cannot even be appreciated by the current board apart from seen as an asset to sell !,with no attempt to knock the door of its hinges to keep him and is so shamlessly touted around ,why should i and many more i know bother ,i have paid my money this season if Tommy goes i will not next season and that is a promise ,best reagards Worthing _hornet hope you can continue to stomach it all i have almost has enough ! Malky Mackay discusses Tommy Smith, Tamas Priskin, Danny Graham and Doncaster Rovers

Mackay wants to lock Tommy Smith away for three weeks Mackay wants to lock Tommy Smith away for three weeks

Malky Mackay claims no Watford player will be leaving unless the club believes their valuation has been met.

Tamas Priskin was sold to Ipswich last week due to the striker being in the last year of his contract and supporters are now becoming anxious over the future of Tommy Smith, who is also in the final year of his current deal.

Smith has already been the subject of a successful £1.8m bid from Sheffield United and a rejected £750,000 offer from Reading.

But Mackay has assured fans Smith will remain a Watford player unless somebody makes the right offer.

The Hornets’ boss said: “Tommy Smith situation is he has played 90 minutes and right now he is our player, that is Tommy’s situation.

“I have openly stated he is one of the best players in the division and I would love to have him as long as I can have him.

“If anyone makes a bid for any of the players then you have to look at that on its own merit but it has to be a figure which is worth it to the football club so it can go on and until such times, there will be nobody leaving the football club.

“These things are done on their individual merits and right now Tommy is still in the starting XI and I am delighted that is the case.

“I said yesterday [Friday] that I want to lock him up somewhere for the next three weeks but he goes in and puts in another quality performance today [Saturday].”

Mackay was speaking during his post-match press conference following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers.
