Watford manager Sean Dyche said Leicester City goalkeeper Chris Weale was “on a list of about 50” potential targets.

Social networking sites and forums were full of claims Weale was set to sign for the Hornets on loan today but that seems unlikely if Dyche’s comments are anything to go by.

When asked about the numerous internet reports regarding Weale, Dyche joked: “I always think the internet is a much better gauge than me so I would definitely use the internet as a source of information if I was you, and everyone else, out there because it is always 100 per cent correct.”

“He is on a list of about 50 players in all different positions,” Dyche added when asked about the player again.

However, the Watford Observer understands a loan move for Weale was expected to take place this week prior to Sven-Goran Eriksson leaving the club yesterday.

At the weekend, Dyche revealed the club were looking to make two loan signings this week - with the first being striker Craig Beattie, who arrived from Swansea City yesterday.

When asked about what other positions he was looking to strengthen, Dyche told the Watford Observer: “We will keep that under wraps until we get the deals done. It is hard speaking about other people’s players if they are not guaranteed to come here.

“I don’t think anyone is safe when we are not performing. I think every position gets looked at and scrutinised.

“We look fairly at every part of the team, every individual, how we are performing as a team and how we prepare them for games. Everything is scrutinised when things are not going well - and to be honest you still do it when things are going well because you want to stay in front of the curve.

“At the minute, we are not in front of the curve so we have to work extra hard to try to build that momentum to get ourselves back on track. So every area can be affected.”
