Watford have received an offer in excess of £2m for Adrian Mariappa from Reading, the Watford Observer understands.
Although it is being reported the bid has been rejected, we understand this may not be the case.
The offer for the Hornets Player of the Season is believed to include add-ons.
We reported earlier this week that the Premier League newcomers had made an enquiry for the highly-regarded defender, who attracted bids from Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic in January.
