Watford confirm arrival of eight new members of staff

Watford have finally confirmed some of the staffing changes on the club website.

Former assistant manager Ian Woan, ex-coach Tony Loughlan and the old head of medical Dave Hart stopped working at Watford once Gianfranco Zola's appointment was announced two weeks ago.

They were replaced by assistant coaches Giancarlo Corradini and Dodo Sormani and head of medical Marco Cesarini but the club decided against confirming the changes.

However, Watford have announced eight new members of staff have joined the club.

The other five were head of rehabilitation Giorgio Gasparini, football operations manager Richard Line, recruitment scout Filippo Giraldi, scouting network co-ordinator Robert Leeson and scouting co-ordinator Luke Warrington.

Goalkeeping coach Alec Chamberlain, sports scientist Matt Springham, video and performance technician Dave Stephens, assistant fitness coach Ben Dixon, kit manager Will Jones and youth team coach David Hughes have all be listed as still being at the club.

The Watford Observer will have further updates on changes to coaching staff in tomorrow's newspaper.

Its a shame that Woan and Laughlan have gone as they all had a positive impact on an average side that did well. But its the developing youth that seem to need help too. Results are not everything but last seasons result where extremely poor and after a good start too. What happened there?. Its great to see the likes of Murray come through. I hope there is some attention paid to the youth.

Methinks if I worked at WFC I'd add an I to my surname, hoping to miss (the much needed cull of angles and Saxons)
So not wanting to wake up next to a nags head ( but then I already do) I'm changing my name from the Germanic Mr Down to the much more Latin sounding Don Downi

I will be extremely disappointed in WFC if Ross Wilson is not retained at the club. He seemed to be a positive and influential member of senior management with both the senior team and the academy which cannot have been easy under Basini.

Nothing like keeping the overheads down, maybe it's time they brought some players in as well on the salary books, instead of the old boy's school club, we have what 6 or 7 maybe more working out the new staff titles for scouting staff now if Ross Wilson is also still around, thought we were going to utilise the Udinese and Granada worldwide famous scouts network, from above it looks like we are setting up a large unit here as well, not sure at this stage Championship Watford needs such a set up but hey ho not my money. Before anyone of the usual gang start moaning I am just highlighting that it all seems to be cloak and dagger of what changes are being made and yet we are soon to be restrained on expenditure when the new league rules come in, my priority as a fan is players not staff at this stage, we still await a single addition loan or otherwise to be confirmed officially with a few weeks to go!

Don't get me totally wrong as this is just a discussion point. Why retain Chamberlain, whom I like lots, but what can he teach so-called experienced goalies when perhaps he could not get Loach to retain his early promise? Massive backroom imports. Will be interested to hear about what they actually do and whether or not the players react in a ngeative fashion. The last thing we need is changingg room dissent and if some react that way then I'm afraid it should be playing in the reserves or bye, bye. It will yake months for things to bed down but we just have to stick in there and hope for the longer term.

I'm just very sad that we are being turned into little Italy. We have lost our club, the club I have grown up with which had a very special feel and served our community so well. I think the players will have to go Italian language classes. Zola will get us relegated, he will get sacked and then we will have really paid the price for this nonsense. Long live Bas.

Why don't we just go and play in Verona and then they will really feel at home.

Oh Ross Wilson left first day they came in.

Upon reflection, perhaps Alec can stll help youngsters and the younger squad players to come on. Should we get the ex-Spurs and Arsenal goalies they will not be here for a long time unless Zola is looking at the longer term and use them as coaches.

Beginning to thing Zola and the italians are going to be a disaster! 8 coaching staff additions (whos paying for this lot)????, rid of a young keeper who 2 seasons ago was a top prospect and for real poor money!

Not normal negative but worried for the future....

Looks like Vialli all over again...i hope not

Sacked by christmas is a real possibility

Get a grip people. Zola is the manager and is entitled to have the supporting cast he wants, and as long as we don't personally fund the wages and the Pozzo's / club do fund it then who cares ! Let's move on and support the changes, or be stuck in the dark ages staring at a run down stand and a team who would struggle to maintain championship status for years to come as the club lose money week on week. Look at the bigger picture, if Zola doesn't work out but gives 100% then so be it, there's always another manager, BUT the change in infrastructure and long term stability is crucial ..... Those who embrace change are more likely to succeed in life and not remain a joe average !! Look forwards

Give it time... They aren't going in blind, come first day of the season all will be well... These guys know what they are doing, they aren't going to buy a club without a plan..
This is going to be one Hell of a ride, I eagerly look on this website daily to see the next piece of progress... Anyone know when the Season tickets are due to arrive? Or the new kit.. Both on order .... Or has my trusty postman taken a liking to my post again?
