Watford to announce seven signings after embargo lifted

Seven signings expected after embargo lifted
The Hornets transfer embargo has been lifted and the club will announce the signing of seven new players shortly, the Watford Observer understands.
We understand an administrative error relating to club finances, from before the club's takeover, meant an embargo was in place.
But that has now been lifted and the free transfers of Manuel Almunia and Fitz Hall, and the loan signings of Daniel Pudil, Almen Abdi, Ikechi Anya, Matej Vydra and Steve Leo Beleck, will be announced shortly.
The Football League and Watford both refused to comment on whether the club’s lack of signings was due to a transfer embargo when we asked last week.
When asked why there has been such a long delay in announcing signings, Watford chief executive Scott Duxbury said: “There has been an extensive evaluation process ongoing since the start of pre-season involving a number of players – some of whom have featured in the friendly matches played so far.
“Official announcements and confirmations will be communicated via watfordfc.com, the club’s website, when it is appropriate to do so.”
The Watford Observer contacted the Football League and the Hornets on Wednesday to ask if the club were subject to a transfer embargo due to either the takeover or the Golden Boys’ HM Revenue & Customs bill. Both refused to confirm or deny.
Watford stated the club’s takeover has been fully ratified by the Football League but they refused to comment on whether they have paid their HMRC bill and how much the sum is.
The Watford Observer revealed the club had a pending HMRC bill back in June, but former owner Laurence Bassini denied this was the case.

If you want to make it as a journalist then why not simply attempt to hack Duxbury or Nani's phone?!
I still maintain that once the signings are completed (+ 1 more striker signing) then we will look in good shape (on and off the pitch)
Thanks to the Pozzo's for saving our club!!
Clap-clap-clap (happy)

It must be said however that the club might have been a bit more forthcoming in the past few days, possibly......."ther

Yet no-one would even confirm whether or not there even was an embargo.
Such secrecy inspires speculation and distrust. Not a great start to the relationship with the FANS and SUPPORTERS!!
Wake up Watford - you're dealing with people who care, AND you will expect ust to pay to support you!

Though I expect it is one of those cases where your dammed if you do if you say something dammed if you don't. Hence by keeping things inside and then just annoucing a load of signings in one go, consolidates the news.

The embargo will be down to Bas's tenure. People hankering after Dyche are wrong for he would not progress the club. I think that those who crave the so called Watford Way do not know how sanctimonious they sound.
To have a Legend in place in Zola is a dream ..
And again i agree that Bassini was responsible for the weekend doubts...
All I wanted was some straight facts, and the new guys to understand how important this is to all of us ..

If there was an embargo and if it was to do with outstanding HMRC bills then the Pozzo if they did proper due diligence will have known about it and accepted it and agreed to take it on when they bought the club. Therefore any delay in signing players is if this scenario is true is down to the Pozzo's.
In the unlikely event they didnt do proper due diligence youd have to worry about their business accumen. Not a critism as i believe they know what they are doing and there is just the WOs say so that thwre is an embargo in the first place

mapps refused a new contract and was already going(not having a dig at him just stating fact) loach replaced with better keeper and SD replaced with a manager and backroom team which they believe can realise their ambitions.so seven new players in and new sponsorship achieved in a space of a few weeks whilst still keeping the happy eggs happy, a good start by my reckoning

Obviously not appropriate for the supporters to know that we couldn't sign anyone for the last few weeks as we were under a transfer embargo ?

Don't know enough about Anya but what I do know isn't encouraging. Abdi I quite like but don't think we need him because we have Eustace and Hogg.
Almunia will be better than Loach but we could surely have got better than him. Fitz Hall is definitely not a good signing.
Beleck I know nothing about at all but the bits I have read in the Internet do not excite me about him

Alumina was playing champions league 2 years ago and was linked with nationalisation and the England squad.
Hall may be a journeyman and proven not to be premiership class but he has a good record in the championship and we need experience at the back
Abdi looks the classiest midfielder we have had since ramage (I still love you Craig). Eustace and Hogg are ball winners, this guy creates and scores goals!
And beleck/ anya look to offer the pace/ width were missing all last year!
Don't prejudge, don't set expectations too high, we will be watching a team playing exciting football

I there was and the WO are correct in their assertion it was du to an admin error. More likely due to admin staff than LB, and yet we have been told the Pozzos were suing LB, there was a hidden debt to HMRC of £1.8m and to make matters worse the Pozzos were thought to be improper persons to run the club by the Football League.
Well, it appears that it was all made up despite good authority which is no surprise because most contributors feel free to say what they like and the truth is the casualty as per norm.
Bas is now history and we need to move on. But maybe it would be good if contributors read the lies they have put in print and learn their lesson.
As for our new signings and loanees it will be good to see how they match up with Adrian and Tamas and then we will b able to judge the new team and the new way. I hope for WFC that GFZ is a huge success.
