Joe Garner’s loan at Carlisle United has been extended by a further month until November 20.

The Watford striker, who is in his second spell at Brunton Park, has scored one goal in five appearances so far and manager Greg Abbott and the player are pleased his stay has been extended.

“The good thing about this one is that Joe was keen to stay and we were keen to keep him here,” Abbott told Carlisle’s official website.

“He’s already shown us that he can be a real thorn in the side and that he’s difficult to handle. He hasn’t had regular pitch time for a good while and we think he will get better and better as he gets more games under his belt.

“He’s a really hard worker and he has come to us with an excellent attitude and a desire to play the game. Hopefully he’ll continue to improve and, if he does, we think he’ll be doing a real job for us.”

The forward, who has also been given permission to play in United’s FA Cup games, said: “I’m enjoying it here and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to sort this out.

“When we’re on our game we play some really good stuff and it’s fantastic for me to be involved.

“I still don’t feel that I’m at my best yet and hopefully that will come soon. This is a good group of lads and I want to do my bit to help us to push on as much as I can.”
