A youthful Hornets XI were beaten 2-0 in a friendly at Wycombe Wanderers yesterday.
The visitors played an Under-19 side, with Matt Bevans gaining a first 90 minutes under his belt following a serious knee ligament injury sustained last season, while keeper Jack Bonham also returned between the posts after a spell on the sidelines.
Young professionals Aaron Tumwa and Stephan Hamilton-Forbes also played alongside members of the Under-18 squad, who were beaten by a goal in each half.
“We played very well and had lots of the ball but were unable to get on the score sheet,” youth coach Adam Pilling told the Hornets’ official site.
“The Wycombe goals came from two mistakes – which the lads will learn from – but there were some pleasing parts to our performance.”
Watford XI: Bonham; Bevans, Johnson, Tumwa, Connolly; Hope, Hamilton-Forbes, O’Nien; Dillon, Mensah, Bobson-Bawling. Subs used: Cumberbatch, Cox, Doherty.
