Gianfranco Zola praises Peterborough United but believes Watford's quality finally told in win
Gianfranco Zola believes Peterborough are a better side than their league position suggests but claimed Watford’s quality prevailed in this afternoon’s 1-0 victory at Vicarage Road.
It looked the Hornets were going to be a held to a frustrating draw after failing to convert one of several good chances but they took the three points after Matej Vydra converted a late penalty to leave Posh rooted to the foot of the Championship.
The head coach said: “It was a tough game because, first of all, we played against a team that in my opinion doesn’t deserve to be in that position.
“They really played well and made it difficult for us and also they play the same system we do. So in those circumstances you have to wait until maybe one of your better qualities comes out on top and sometimes that’s not going to happen in the first half because everyone’s on a good fitness level but then as the game goes along you have more chances.”
Asked if he asked his side to lift their performance level following a largely uneventful opening period, Zola responded: “Consider also that we are coming from an international break and the beginning is never easy and that was one thing. But mainly I believe it was the fact they were playing quite well, they were covering the pitch quite well, they weren’t allowing us too much space plus a couple of players were not doing the right work. But once we changed a couple of things and the game went on longer our better quality came through.”

The idiot who abused Pudil in first half - shame on you. Pudil is so committed, his girlfriend, son and some friends attend all home games and some away games, Pudil along with all the new players are 100% IN IT TO WIN IT !!!!
The Peterborough idiots (approx 25 of them 18-20 year olds with a couple older boys) who escaped police surveillance by climbing over the back wall in moons in the high street, who then attacked the yellow and red lion by the garden entrance throwing bottles which broke a girls nose, injured the bar man and scared the life out of the young kids in the garden, you f'in morons, as for police and stewards (where we're you ??), it's well hard to throw bottles etc ... They'd just come for trouble and left at half time, looking for more trouble, before ending up in town again. There excuse was that Watford played up at Peterborough last season last game, clearly Peterborough away this season may now be interesting !!!!
Hard fought 3 points, deserved, Peterborough played 5 in defence with two holding midfielders first half, and we lacked tempo. Second half we raised Tempo and deserved win. Doyley and Cassetti didn't cut mustard for me, we need more pace down wing ....
Two tough away games, would take two points now !!!!

That's proberbly why Zola prefers 3-5-2 and most proberbly with Hall, Ekstrand and Nosworthy being the ideal 3 at the back with Hoban and Neuton contesting for a place/rotating
Personally I would like to see the club try to extend Chalobah's stay till the end of the season - after all Chelsea don't really need him!
We have a good side and when you add Bauben, Eustace, McGinn, Mungi Bai into the mix things are looking good for the rest of the season.

Also to add when Eustace is back I think he can lend the defence the extra steel it needs and maybe Bauben may be able to get introduced from the bench to sit in front of the back 3 as he has a good engine!

All born in Rosario Argentina, all spent their Youth in Argentina's Newells Old Boys Academy before all moving abroad at 16 .....
They are all 5ft 7" ....
If we can get Battochio in the team by Xmas if not before, he is Italy U20 international, Udinese believe he has higher potential than Fernando , Both are at Watford with a clause in loan agreement to make it permanent next season
It's a Shame we are not in a proper Reserve league as we could field two/three decent sides and we could watch em all ....
Wonder who else has been through the Newells old Boys Academy ??

Players from the club's youths who have represented Argentina at World Cups are Gabriel Batistuta, Américo Gallego, Jorge Valdano, Gabriel Heinze, Roberto Sensini, Mauricio Pocchettino and Maxi Rodríguez, among others. Lionel Messi also played in the club's youths, but left at a young age to Barcelona to seek treatment for his growth hormone deficiency, while Diego Maradona played briefly for the first team in 1993

Im looking forward to see him playing in midfield with Abdi and Chalobah, now that will be something to behold.
