Tamas Priskin will replace the suspended Darius Henderson and partner Nathan Ellington in attack on Sunday.

With Henderson serving a one-match ban following his sending off at Blackpool, Steve Kabba a major doubt with a dead leg and Theo Robinson ineligible, Aidy Boothroyd has little option but to ask Priskin to lead the line with Ellington against Hull.

"Tamas has done great at Preston, although his form has been in and out here," admitted the manager. "He's played in big games before for Hungary and I hope he can do it for us. This is a big chance for him.

"Hendo has been a terrific player for us and we will miss him. Hull will be delighted he is not playing, but it gives someone else an opportunity."

Boothroyd concedes that the absence of Henderson will require a more measured approach from his side if they are to get the best out of Priskin and Ellington, two players who flourish with the ball at their feet.

"Despite both players being good in the air we might need to be a bit different to what we do as Hull have got some physical players," said the manager.

Why does Aidy "have little option" but to play Priskin.

It seems obvious to most posters on this site that Tommy Smith should play up front!

You can then either play Ainsworth on the wing, or a more solid three man midfield.

At least it is good to note that Aidy is considering a more measured style of play, and not the disgraceful hoofball we are all getting sick and tired of.

Hull are not world-beaters. They have lost recently at Bristol City, Sheff Utd, and Ipswich and seem to crack under the pressure.

Let us hope and pray that this continues, and with the added pressure of being favourites, they crack even more!

The 12 noon kick off may well favour Priskin and Ellington as by 3.10 they usually look knackered.

Quite relieved that Hendo's out - we'll probably miss his defending but he's not looked much of a threat up front recently.

Just hope the players remember that he's not there and stop launching the ball up field.

We're overdue a home win and really should be able to beat Hull. Hopefully everyone will get behind the team and give us all the prospect of a trip to Wembley.

The key to this whole situation is if the manager has spent this week getting the team to adapt the way they approach this game tactically.

We've had all week in the knowledge that our big targetman is unavailable.

If we do start lumping long balls into the box, then we really will deserve to get beat.

I honestly cannot believe even AB would be so beligerent as to try and make Prisken and Ellington adapt to a long-ball style, rather than adapting the approach to the players he has available.

But then again . .

I agree with above post, either McAnuff or Smith can play in hole behind Ellington with Ainsworth on wing

Just when i was starting to feel very optimistic that with Hendo out we would have Ellington down the middle on his own supported from the flanks by Smith and Macanuff OR Ainsworth,Eustace in the holding role and Williamson and O'toole who has nice habit of getting forward and scoring when allowed ,the "legs" in midfield ,Demerit Right back Shittu,Bromby, sadler across the back, WE GO WITH THE WASTE OF SPACE PRISKIN!! ,i know we play well with ten men but this is unbelievable Aidy i think now you really have lost the plot if you believe this guy will deliver for us I hoped with the above formation we would KEEP the ball, Play a bit of football with ball into Feet as we did at Blackpool when hendo WAS SENT off AGAIN! still when needed have the big guys to contest long throws and corners BUT not let this be predictable but show we can mix it BUT no you stick with HOOFBALL because with two down the middle that is what your sides do !very very unhappy and deflated ,all the initiative is back with HULL , hope this post is thrown back in my face when Priskin stars in a great performance BUT will not hold my breath !!

Great post Gary H, LOL!
Both NE & TP have the opportunity to go some way to redeem themselves and grab the headlines tomorrow, lets hope they do it, and that Aidy's tactics give them the opportunity to do so. Aidy has no excuse to play the long ball and the two up front MUST perform.

Hi Bomber - great news; really chuffed for you. At the last Enables meeting, members using wheelchairs were encouraged to let the Ticket Office know as far in advance as possible if they were not coming to a game so their space could be offered to those wheelchair users on the waiting list so it's great to see it working.

Okay- we've got no pace up front so he goes with Priskin and Ellington! Ainsworth needs to start just to inject some speed into the team Smithy can pay with Ellington and the Priskin can go on holiday! No hang on- he's been on holiday for the past two seasons!!!!

Charming appoach Simmo. Sadly capslock doesn't equal truth or intelligence. I hope Priskin is on good form on Sunday, because he can play well, contrary to popular belief. Sadly, ever since the crowd stopped booing Ellington, they started on Priskin, charmers that they are.

Priskin has had several opportunities and I think this will be his last. If he fails to perform on Sunday he will be replaced by Hendo on Wednesday night and sold in the summer, regardless of what division we are in. I think most fans don't specifically hate him as such, just that they can see he has potential but lacks effort and desire, and that drives the fans mad. But you never know, he could suddenly spark into life - stranger things have happened, but not at Vicarage Road and cartainly not since November. Anyway, he is wearing yellow so good luck to him and all.

Being a Watford supporter can be painful at times! and this season has been one of the worst for a few years because we started so well? and have not had a decent game since Johson went back to borough. But we are where a few clubs bigger than us would love to be come noon on sunday, the orns thrive on being the under dogs how many of you remember being written off against southampton in the leagie cup after losing 4-0 at the dell and then that glorious night we spanked them 7-1 at vicarage rd. i was only 15 at the time and that night above all made me a HORNET for life come what may. Come on you Golden Boys were off to WEMBLEY AGAIN!!!

Roger, St Albans says...
11:53am Sat 10 May 08

Come on Watford, do it for the Bomber and for Dorset Hornet, they deserves it. Somehow I think Ainsworth could be our man on Sunday--the run he put in against Scunthotpe was the best bit of the day, and if he can do that two or three times a match, he is worth his place. I fear Priskin is a lost cause, and expect to see him subbed after 60 mins. of non-effort.

ebhorn, Eastbourne says...
2:50pm Sat 10 May 08

Priskin wasn't bought to chase around after long balls and nor was Ellington. They are both intelligent players with the ball at their feet. If AB adopts that style sunday they will shine...IF.

Dorset Horn, we were also underdogs in the play-offs of 1999 and 2006 and look what happened then!

The other underdogs from Bristol have just won at Palace.

It looks like the bookies will have to pay out heavily, for it will be a Watford-Bristol Wembley final for me.

For heavens sake Aidy - SMITH up front - it's a no brainer surely & not because I lumped on 3-0 & Smith for first goal at 135/1. Why is no one mentioning Theo - he has to get a slot on the bench to replace the Hungarian goal machine after 10 minutes. I'm really confident for the first time in months ( MORE SO IF TOMMY WAS UP FRONT) - Palarse's arse is squeaking & we can take Bristol. WE ARE PREMIER

Having Theo on the bench would be a waste of a slot - if you read through some recent articles, you'll find that he's not eligible. Technically, he's still a Hereford player until the end of May. Hope you didn't have money on him scoring.

Assuming we get past Hull - a major task in itself - I would rather play Palace. In the admittedly few times I've seen them in action, they haven't impressed at all & I'm sure we could beat them. BC, on the other hand, are a different kettle of fish.
