So last week we had an opposition player booked twice but no red. This week it’s ball in the net and no goal.

On Saturday maybe we should all expect Leicester to be allowed four substitutions, to be given the right to run ball under arm and for both linesmen to let Anthony Knockaert flounce the offside rule with consistent gay abandonment.

Aaah, we all know it, but I'll say it anyway.... at breezy Brighton the ball bounced slowly and clearly across the line, Soviet astronauts looking down at the Amex from the International Space Station were probably nodding, "Yah, it was definitely in”.

For one of the officials to have their eyes wide shut is ridiculous, for them all to be looking the other way seems unfathomable. Just how did they all miss it?

You can argue all you like for technology introduced into the game, and it does seem absolutely bizarre that the Premier League gets to embrace the future whilst the rest of us don't.

However, surely just officials capable of keeping up with the modern game should do the trick in cases like last night? Keith Hill's lack of a second yellow card for Brighton's Bruno was perhaps even more surreal than the "ghost goal".

After Bruno violently took out Danny Pudil on the edge of the box, the only question for the Herts (Herts!) based ref should have been, "Is this a free kick or a pen?" 99 times out of 100 that is a second yellow card.

You only have to look at the reaction on Bruno's face to see what should have been done - he looked like he was already on the walk of shame back to the showers. Keith Hill clearly didn't see such a thing, he didn't seem to see much.

Part of me dreams of day where sportsmen act sportingly. In the Derby game John Eustace could have owned up and not taken that yellow card for Adam Smith's foul, just as the Brighton players could have admitted the ball was a mile over the line.

A dream I know - there is apparently no room for sportsmanship in sport. Instead I am going to write to the FA and ask for bad refs to be put in stocks, by the pond.

We will be allowed to pelt them with pies and buns from Greggs until all the heartache goes away. It's the only way we're going to get through this season.
