In what can only be described as one of the games of the season, the Hornets showed their true strength of character to snatch an incredible victory at the Macron Stadium against Bolton Wanderers.

After I questioned our squad mentality following last week’s unconvincing victory at Brentford, the dogged determination and gutsy spirit we demonstrated on Saturday dispelled those doubts.

In the midst of such a tightly contested promotion battle it is these aforementioned qualities that show what you’re really made of and can take you that extra step, possibly into the Premier League.

In a game which could’ve gone either way, Watford fought back persistently to claim a victory that I believe will be of truly massive significance come the end of the season.

Now crucially, as a group, I finally think we’re all singing from the same hymn sheet.

Against Bolton, we looked like a team which exuded unity, fighting for a combined cause and galvanised by the stability of our current boss Slavisa Jokanovic.

His reaction to Troy Deeney’s late winner, in my opinion, was the defining moment of his tenure so far.

For the first time, the Serbian physically showed his pure elation and for a moment lost himself in what was a sensational climax to the game.

After the managerial debacle we had to endure at the start of the season, it seems that Jokanovic’s steely personality is starting to rub off on his squad.

Unsurprisingly, familiarity is helpful. I finally feel like I am following, not a hugely talented team of individuals, but a squad and backroom staff completely in sync and ready to achieve.

Although this is only one result, the manner of our performance shouldn’t be ignored. Arguably the resilience Jokanovic has shown throughout his spell at the club is now visibly beginning to manifest throughout his squad.

After all, there were calls for the Watford boss to be sacked only a month or so into his reign after enduring a four-game losing streak in November.

But now after snatching victories from Blackburn, Brentford and Bolton, Watford have built up momentum going into this weekend’s important match against Norwich City.

Especially since the turn of the year, Jokanovic has instilled a great desire within the Watford ranks as they continue to push on towards the business end of the season.

As some of our senior players continue to return to full fitness, we have a generous run of fixtures on the horizon and therefore an opportunity to close the ever-shortening gap with the top two.

After an apprehensive beginning to life at Vicarage Road, it seems that Jokanovic is giving our current crop the mental stability we have lacked in previous seasons.

The Hornets have been continuing to pick up points and confidence without really hitting their maximum potential.

And that could play a big part in ensuring Premier League football for the club next season.
