It has been a good first half for Watford against Brentford. The two sides may be level at 0-0 at the interval but the Hornets have impressed whilst the Bees have been reduced to ten men.

The Golden Boys have created the better chances at Griffin Park but haven’t been able to break the deadlock. Ben Watson and Fernando Forestieri have come closest for the visitors.

Brentford started brightly but faded as the half progressed. And, eight minutes before the interval, Jake Bidwell lunged into a tackle on Miguel Layun and referee Keith Stroud had no hesitation in showing the full-back a red card.

Watford’s challenge in the second period is to make their man advantage count. They were confident against the Bees’ eleven players but were surprisingly nervous following the dismissal.
