Children, staff and others donned a red nose on Friday to raise money for the annual event.

Schoolchildren at Windermere Primary School, in St Albans worked up a sweat during red nose day, taking part in a sponsored aerobic marathon with the help of ‘Fitter Future’.

Children took part in multiple fitter future sessions throughout the day, ensuring there was no gaps in participation. Jack from Fitter Future worked with dozens of children to get them to the end of their marathon.

Ellen Baldwin, Year 5 teacher, said: “Although all year groups took part, Year 5 in particular worked their socks off filling any gaps in the schedule and taking part in at least seven of the sessions.

“Along side our athletic efforts, children brought in cakes for a Windermere Bake Off, as well as a very successful bake sale after school.

“So far we have raised £806 in sponsorship, red nose sales, wearing red and the bake sale. An amazing effort from everyone involved.”

Frosts Agency were at St Albans Market raising money for Red Nose Day and staff from Monkey Puzzle also took part in the fundraising event.

Across the country, a total of £73 million was raised.

Dave, the duty manager for Harpenden Sports Centre, helped raise money by pedalling on an exercise bike up until 10pm that evening.
