Huge numbers of voters signed on for June in a last minute surge of registration.
A high-profile push by politicians and celebrities saw 612,543 people use the online form and 9,855 resort to pen and paper to get their applications by midnight on Monday.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn used Twitter to encourage his followers - especially young people - to register, while musicians from Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour to grime artist JME also urged people to make sure they could have their say on June 8.
Many of those leaving it late to apply were aged under 34, with 246,000 under-25 and 207,000 in the 25-34 age bracket.
As well as the final surge on Monday, more than 200,000 applied on Sunday.
