Parking restrictions will come into play next month following a lengthy consultation.

The new regulations will be enforced on Market Place, Spencer Street and Upper Dagnall Street from Saturday, July 1.

Drivers can pay and display for up to one hour when parked in these roads from 8am-6.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

On Wednesdays, Saturdays and other occasional market days, parking will be banned between 3am-6.30pm.

The Traffic Regulation Order issued by St Albans City and District Council aims to increase turnover of vehicles allowing more people to park for short periods to visit neighbouring businesses and shops.

New signs and ticket machines have been put in ahead of the enforcement and single yellow lines have been marked in the parking bays to prohibit vehicles being left there on market days.
