Suspected stolen motorbikes were recovered by police after they pursued a vehicle into north London.

On July 13, Herts Police attempted to stop a van in Page Place, St Albans just after 2am, but the vehicle failed to stop and was pursued until Gaydon Lane, north London, where the occupants got out and left the scene.

Police searched the van to find three motorbikes, which were suspected to have been stolen, and three men were arrested during a search which included the dog unit and police helicopter.

Shane Warner, 26, of Edgars Court, Welwyn Garden City, Alfie Reddy, 18, of no fixed address, and Ashley Race, 24, of Mackenzie Square, Stevenage, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

St Albans Chief Inspector Shane O’Neill said: “My officers will work tirelessly to locate and apprehend those suspected of stealing motor vehicles.

“Recently there has been an increase in the number of moped being stolen across the county and we are urging motorcyclist to take additional security measures to protect their bikes."

Chief Insp O'Neill also called on the public to take note of anyone they see acting suspiciously near parked vehicles, including their clothing, vehicle registration numbers and what they look like, and call 999 immediately.
