St Albans people have the chance to vote for one of their favourite parks in a national poll.

Any park that has a Green Flag badge can take part in the survey to find the UK’s top 10 best-loved parks.

Parks eligible in St Albans district include Verulamium Park, Rothamsted Park, Clarence Park, Sopwell Nunnery Green Space and Bricket Wood Common.

Green Flags are a sign that the park or green space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is well maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

The scheme is run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, which works to improve the quality of parks and green spaces, eliminate littering and reduce waste.

Cllr Daniel Chichester-Miles, who is responsible for environmental policies for St Albans District Council, said: “Cast your vote for a local gem in this national poll to find the UK’s top 10 favourite parks."

All Green Flag parks and green spaces are listed at To vote for your favourite, simply find it on the map and click the vote button.

Voting closes on Saturday, September 30, with the top 10 winning sites due to be announced on Wednesday, October 11.
