Bikes and a purse have been recovered police, who are now trying to reunite the items with their owners.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were called just after 3.30am on September 14 to reports of a man acting suspiciously in Breadcroft Lane, Harpenden.

After searching the area near Harpenden railway station officers recovered a silver Raleigh bike, a black Silverfox bike, a small black purse and loose change, including a foreign coin.

PC Ayodeji Afolabi, from the St Albans Local Crime Unit, said: "We have reason to believe that the purse and loose change may have been taken from a vehicle, therefore we are appealing to anyone who is missing items to please come forward and speak to us.

"It may be that you thought you had misplaced these items and not realised your vehicle had been entered, especially if no damage had been caused."

No one was found during the search.

If you believe any of the items recovered belong to you or have any information call PC Afolabi on 101, quoting ISR 53 of September 14, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
