Thousands turned out for a giant fireworks display to celebrate Bonfire Night over the weekend.
The ‘St Albans Cathedral Fireworks Spectacular’, held in Verulamium Park on November 4, is the largest display in the region and brings in much-needed funds for charity.
Over the past quarter of a century, it has helped raise more than £750,000 for regional and national charities, with Earthworks St Albans and Waverly Driving Group RDA this year’s beneficiaries.

Dr Jeffrey John, the Dean of St Albans, said: “It was a magical evening, with a full moon and the floodlit Cathedral reflected in the lake as the backdrop to the most magnificent display of fireworks yet.
“We are very pleased and proud to organise this event, which brings the city and community together for such a happy and exciting experience and one which benefits local charities too.”
The evening requires weeks of meticulous planning and relies on a large team of volunteers to ensure that things run smoothly and safely.
Chair of the Fireworks Team, Paul Dean, paid tribute to all who had made the event possible.
He said: “We would like to thank everyone involved, in particular the St Albans District Explorer Scouts, for their superhuman efforts and support for this remarkable community occasion.”
