After what seems like an eternity of dry hot weather, and no we are not complaining, it may actually rain tomorrow.

Britain has basked in hot sunshine and enjoyed one of the sunniest summers so far but it could all change tomorrow afternoon.

The Met Office is warning of a high chance of thunderstorms with a yellow warning in place across London, Hertfordshire, and Essex.

It could lead to flooding and powercuts.

The warning is in force from 2pm to midnight on Friday.

The Met Office is warning that the downpours will be slow-moving and anyone caught in a particularly heavy shower could be at risk of flooding.

During the heaviest downpours, more than 30mm of rain could fall in an hour.

The Met Office website says: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train, bus and tube services, particularly during the evening rush hour.

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions with the possibility of road closures. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
