Festive SuBo signs CDs for fans

Susan Boyle got into the festive spirit as she continued to celebrate the success of her debut album.

The 48-year-old Britain's Got Talent finalist donned a Santa hat as she signed copies of her record-breaking new CD on Tuesday.

She also chatted with fans and photographers on the doorstep of her home in Blackburn, West Lothian.

I Dreamed A Dream shifted more than 410,000 copies last week as it soared straight to number one in the charts - the best first week's sale for a debut album since records began.

Retailers have said it is already proving to be one of this year's must-have festive gifts and would be vying for the Christmas number one position.

Boyle's cover of the Rolling Stones classic Wild Horses entered the singles charts in ninth place.

Simon Cowell, the pop mogul who masterminded her rise from obscurity, led tributes to the Scottish singer at the weekend.

He said: "The success could not have happened to a lovelier person. She did it her way and made a dream come true."

Her record label said the album was outselling Rihanna, Lady Gaga and 50 Cent in the US, with a projected first-week sales figure of around one million.

Boyle told BBC Reporting Scotland on Monday: "It's been bloody fantastic. Pretty moving, really, because it's a chance for me to prove, really, what I'm capable of. All I can say is thank you very much for those who supported me and I hope you enjoy the album."
