Sam Allardyce hopes to quit Blackburn for a job in international football in the next two or three years.
The 55-year-old has been in charge at Ewood Park since December 2008 but does not see his stay there lasting as long as his stint at Bolton.
"I would like to coach a national team, if one came up, in another two years," he was quoted as saying in the Daily Star.
"Another two to three years in the Premier League is about what I want to do.
"We will see how far we can take Blackburn Rovers. We'll see if we can get them beyond where most people expect and then, after that, managing a national side would be very interesting."
