Fourteen musicians, a bundle of cash, a real log fire, an excited crowd and all this on a freezing January Sunday afternoon. The Cock at Sarratt hosted an event for the Pepper Foundation based in nearby Berkhamsted and with donations and raffle, over £450 was raised. The charity provides nurses for very sick kids as well as helping with pre and post bereavement support. Speaker Dave Bevan from the charity explained that they need over £350,000 every year to survive. That's a lot of dosh needed for such an important local community based charity.
The event was fantastic for the charity, the pub, the musicians and the enthusiastic audience. Musicians included Bob Morledge, Nick Newall, Paul Hornsby, Mike Sherwood, Chris Lawrence, Ray Huntley and many more. Tim Soul formerly singer with Herts and Beds Rock Contest winners The Oral Exciters in the 80's emerged after 25 years. Being a local charity it was a lot easier to mass support. BUT it must be a mammoth task trying to raise money for great causes in distant places such as Africa?
