With the summer now coming to an end and Autumn just around the corner it’s time to reflect on the past few months and a reminder about the diverse and good services that we offer our tenants.
Since April 2011 we have moved away from Scheme Managers to Flexi Support Workers, developing a hub and spoke model (Community Hub).
This is to provide a more targeted and flexible support to our tenants in our Sheltered Schemes. The aim of the Community Hub is to utilise our Sheltered Schemes as a base or “hub”. From these hubs we deliver our housing related support service to our tenants living in our Sheltered and Flexicare Schemes, as well as to older and vulnerable people living nearby in the local community regardless of tenure. The ethos of these services is through supporting and maintaining an independent living environment tailored to meet our tenants needs wherever they live.
Lifelines is another really valuable service that we offer. This has 24 hour access to help and assist giving you independence, security and peace of mind that someone is there for you at the push of a button. A Lifeline is a way of providing extra help and security for people who may feel vulnerable, such as when you get older, have a disability, live alone, or become unwell.
At the moment I am just a wee little house, but as I get older and mature I am definitely going to consider using a Lifeline. What could be better than knowing there is someone not far away looking after your wellbeing.
Telecare is another non-intrusive service. This service offers a comprehensive way of managing the risk to a person’s health and home environment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, enabling people to live independently for as long as possible.
What a variety of services we have and some of these include: Handyperson, Estate Services, Grounds Maintenance, Caretaking, Communal Cleaning and External Cleaning.
A really exciting end to this week is the opening ceremony of the new lift at Summer Place. The tenants held a coffee morning with the contractors and staff and have been kept up to date on the progress and safety checks. The lift is completely wheelchair accessible and the tenants have also selected the colour scheme to put the finishing touches in place.
The contractors have even been helping our tenants with their shopping and they will be selecting a tenant to cut the ribbon. I can’t wait to try the new lift out and hopefully they will let me cut the ribbon as well.
