Government announces day of lurrve

In a move designed to strike panic into the hearts of men all over the country I can exclusively reveal that the Government has taken time out from beating up bankers to invite everybody to celebrate a day of lurrve and, it`s this Saturday

This only leaves a couple of days to prepare and decode doublespeak eg “ There`s no need to be getting me anything “ or “ I wouldn`t even bother trying, everywhere will be fully booked “

The fact that it falls on a Saturday presents a further problem as most men can`t sneak off to the office and buy a card and flowers from the garage on the way home.

I foresee bakers doing a roaring trade on Saturday morning “ Just popping out for a loaf of bread m`dear “

We are as well prepared as we can be for Saturday night, a nice menu, extra staff booked and ….. still tables available, so take a look at www.three-crowns.com and if you like what you see give us a call then you can sit back and enjoy the sport on Saturday afternoon instead of trawling through yellow pages.

If you do visit you`ll meet our 6 foot 4 cardboard cut out Lawrence Dallaglio, his job is to encourage you to try a drop of Greene King IPA - official beer of the English rugby team ( I wonder what the unofficial beer is ? maybe we`ll leave that for another time ).

Apart from offering you a particularly fine ale Lawrence is also offering the opportunity to collect official key rings and a very nice boxed pint glass…… which could just be the answer to your Valentine`s day gift dilemna.

At least Greene King are ahead of the other rugby related beer, the Irish one with the creamy head ( not sure if I`m allowed to say Guinness here ).

A month ago I agreed to buy a load of the stuff with the promise of receiving their 6 nations kit to with prizes for customers and other rugby related goodies.

A month on the blackstuff and the bill has long since arrived but the goodies seem reluctant to leave the dressing room and run onto the pitch, still we`re only approaching week 2 of the 6 nations and I`m sure they`ll appear sometime – probably during week 6

For my own rugby news, I last left you on the way to Welwyn for my youngsters game where he was happy to play most of the match and even happier to consume 2 hot dogs afterwards.

I think the hotdogs were actually for the parents but as none of us could unfold freezing fingers or still chattering teeth, the lads cleaned up.

Snow spoiled last Sundays fun for me which was to be an away match for Fullers against Saracens. We had managed to convince him that the game was at Vicarage Road and I was planning on driving there, finding it locked up, then “`phoning” coach Dave to be told that the game had been switched to the real location.

Must go now,got to think about buying a Valentine`s card.
