Well the warmer weather didn’t last very long and we now find ourselves in the midst of snow and ice. This of course brings its own problems both inside and outside the house. A lot has been made in the media about travelling conditions but it’s just important to keep warm when you are at home as well. Make sure you have blankets available and the ability to make hot drinks should something go wrong.

Well now the weather seems to be getting slightly warmer (if you can call +5 “warmer”) thoughts turn to the festive season and what’s going to happen on Saturday 25th December. This week I was with a number of my team practising for our Carol Singing which is going to take place next Wednesday (15th) at some of our sheltered schemes. I’m sure our elderly residents will enjoy seeing my smiley face and hearing the beautiful voices of the Trust Board, Gateway Committee and staff. Hopefully they’ll join in with some of the old favourites.

I had only been to Norway once before, September 2005, to see Scotland beat Norway 2-1 and effectively end their chances of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

Last week everywhere you looked it was about the weather and how it impacts on individual lives. At the Trust with so many homes and tenants we need to ensure that we continue to provide a good service through all weathers, especially to people who are vulnerable. This does mean that when the weather is particularly bad we may have to deal with emergencies only and that some of our routine work may get delayed. We do ask our tenants to bear with us in these circumstances as the work will get done as soon as the weather improves.

A lot of people knock budget airlines but let me ask you, given the choice between a day trip to Brighton or a weekend in Oslo which would you rather invest £32.99 in ?

Great headline from the Guardian last month. Will the Princess agree to a prenup? Will the Prince insist on a pre-nup? William and Kate have just got engaged and family law solicitors are talking money!

Family law solicitors are inundated with Christmas contact enquiries during this time of the year. My advice is usually that if you live close enough to one another, the day could be shared between you. Parent 1 could have morning to 1400/1500 and Parent 2 could have the afternoon / evening (times may vary). That way, the children see both of you and enjoy the day.
