Launch of Gateway Leadership Group

On Wednesday this week, we had a Special General Meeting (SGM) here at Gateway House for all members at the Trust.

The meeting was arranged to ask members to approve proposed changes to our Rules. These changes were necessary following a review of our Gateway Committee. I was really delighted to see so many members support this meeting, ask lots of interesting questions and then vote unanimously in favour of the changes.

These changes now mean that our new Gateway Leadership Group, our consultative body of 9 people, can have up to 3 associate members. This is a really positive way of engaging with the community as a whole and means I could stand for election if I wanted to. The formal election will take place over the summer and I need to think about my election address. I hope the photographer gets my best side!

Another change I am excited about is the opportunity for all our members to stand as a Board Member. The process will start with letters being sent to all members next week inviting them to stand for one of the three places on the Board. The formal election for the Board will also take place over the summer. The big question for me is should I stand for the Gateway Leadership Group or should I stand for the Board? Both roles are equally as important but I know I can’t stand for both, Maybe I’ll just encourage our members to stand for them as I am very busy being an international superstar.

We also used the meeting as an opportunity for our members to give us their views on the future priorities of the Trust. As we come to the end of our first 5 years we are starting to look forward to what the next 5 years will hold. We got some excellent feedback and this will feed into our plans which will be formally launched on our 5th Birthday on Monday 10th September. I’m really looking forward to that date as I busy planning how we can celebrate .... I’ll tell you more in a future blog.
