Pari Firoozmand

Published on 08/02/2019

The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established - Ban'u'llah. Pari Firoozmand. A distinguished lady, passed away peacefully at the age of 92, on the 25th January 2019. She may never have made the headlines, but she had the resolute belief that the earth is but one country and mankind its citizens. Her firm conviction that she wanted to serve the human family and that unity in diversity was the way forward for humanity, caused her to leave, with her very young family, her native Persia in 1953. Born in 1927 and blessed with beauty and inner charm that she radiated to all, she spent her life as a pioneer for the Baha'i Faith, settling with her young family first in Turkey, then in Scotland, followed by England, Gibraltar and then in her old age back to England. The world was her home and mankind was her family, and she showed kindness to all without prejudice or distinction. She spoke passionately about the equality of men and women, likening them to the two wings of a bird without which the bird of humanity would not be able to fulfil its full potential. Living in Watford for many years, she was very much involved with many organisations to lend her hand in whatever way she could for the betterment of society, never drawing attention to herself. She was an active member of Interfaith council in Watford for many years and spoke out audaciously. Her belief that all the major world religions come from the same Creator, like the rays of light coming from the same sun, their founders being divine teachers coming to educate the evolving school of humanity at different periods in human history. She always focussed on what we have in common as a human family and not what are our differences. Love and Unity of the human race is what she worked for tirelessly and was convinced that so powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her funeral will be on the 14th February at The New Southgate Cemetery, Brunswick Park Road, New Southgate, London N11 1JJ
