M1 MOTORWAY - JUNCTION 4 TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the M1 Motorway in the London Boroughs of Harrow and Barnet, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight and weekend closure of: -
1) the road connecting from the southbound carriageway of the M1 to the southbound carriageway of the A41 at Junction 4 (A41); and
2) the hard shoulder adjacent to the southbound carriageway of the M1 between a point 1130 metres north and a point 350 metres south of the tip of the nosing of the exit slip at Junction 4 (A41), and lane one of the main carriageway adjacent to it.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge joint replacement, waterproofing and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 6 weeks starting on or after Wednesday 18th August 2021. The overnight closures would take place between 22:00 and 05:30 hours Mondays to Thursdays and 23:00 and 06:00 hours on Fridays (maximum periods). Total weekend closures are scheduled from 22:00 hours Friday 20th to 05:30 hours Monday 23rd August and the same hours 3rd to 6th September. The Order would come into force on 16th August 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the link road closure would be diverted southbound on the M1 to Junction 1 (A406) and return as required using the A406, A1, and A41.
The temporary closures and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
