Hertfordshire County Council
Proposal to close the residential provision at Falconer School, Bushey, a community special school, from September 2022
Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to close the residential provision at Falconer School, Falconer Road, Bushey, WD23 3AQ, a community special school for boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, from September 2022.
Falconer School has historically provided residential places, however the use of those places has declined over time and there have been no children in the residential provision since December 2019.
Since 2014, all SEMH schools in Hertfordshire have been funded to provide the services of Engagement Support Workers who support pupils and their families to improve attendance and educational achievement.
The Engagement Support Worker approach at Falconer School has been extremely successful in providing one to one, family and community-based support. The approach has assisted with removing barriers to learning and attendance. It has led to improved community links and integrated partnership support approaches.
Anyone can provide comments or objections but you need to ensure that they are received by Hertfordshire County Council by Wednesday 2 February 2022 by sending them by post, marked for the attention of Falconer School, to:
Freepost RTHH-LXSL-BYYR, Hertfordshire County Council, Education Department, County Hall, Hertford, SG13 8DF, or by email to:
.
