Rabbis paid special visits to their nearby nurseries to teach children about the significance of Hanukkah.

Rabbi Mendel Law, from Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue, and Rabbi Nick Kett, from Bushey United Synagogue, dropped in to Boys & Girls Nursery at their Stanmore and Watford sites.

They taught the children about where the festival of Hanukkah originated from, why and how it is celebrated.

It is part of the nurseries’ ‘Mini VIP events’, which are held each month to give their children an insight into a range of different subjects.

Director Natasha Kirby said: “It is important to teach our children about different religions and these interactive visits are a great way to do just that.”

Classes heard about the foods which are traditionally eaten during the festival, including latkes and doughnuts, and they were given the chance to make their own menorahs.
