Hertfordshire’s leading residential developer, Heronslea Group, has donated four disabled parking bays at Schopwick Surgery in Bushey, at a cost of £20k. The health centre, which is situated next Heronslea Group’s flagship development Windmill Place, has suffered with inadequate parking since construction started on the housing scheme.

Heronslea Group acquired the site, which was a redundant care home several years ago, and has since transformed it into one of Bushey’s leading residential developments. Patients visiting the surgery historically parked at care home, but were unable to once construction started. This led to patients parking on Windmill Street causing problems for the neighbourhood.

Jason Rishover, CEO of Heronslea Groups comments: “We have always been aware of the parking issues at the surgery, since we bought the redundant care home, and how frustrating this must be for patients attending appointments, especially disabled patients who were unable to park close by. Now the site is complete and residents have moved into their new homes, as a gesture of goodwill, we wanted to give something back to the community and have therefore built and donated these much needed disabled parking bays to the surgery.”

Dr Jay Vyas, GP Partner, Schopwick Surgery added: 'We are really grateful for the generous donation by Heronslea Group and hope this will alleviate the parking problem for the surgery and local residents'

Linda Silver Hertsmere Council continues: “I am delighted that everyone has worked together to make sure the surgery at Schopwick in Bushey will have suitable disabled parking. I know how grateful those who need this parking will be."

The white lining for the parking bays was carried out on Monday 5th March and to mark this special occasion and officially open the parking bays at Schopwick Surgery a photo shoot took place, with the following people – Cllr Seamus Quilty, Cllr Paul Morris OBE, Cllr Linda Silver and Jason Rishover, CEO of Heronslea Group.
