Watford’s cycling and walking routes are being revamped to help transform the way people travel around the town.

The improvements involve creating new stretches of cycle paths, widening and resurfacing existing cycleways and footways and adding markings on roads and cycleway signage.

Works also include vegetation trimming and safety fencing.

It is part of Watford Borough Council and Hertfordshire County Council’s scheme to transform travel in Watford within the next 20 years.

Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: “This combination of small improvements to Watford’s cycling and walking network are an important part of our 20-year Transforming Travel in Watford strategy.

“These gradual changes will improve the provision for cyclists and pedestrians across the town, so that residents can enjoy the health and environmental benefits that cycling and walking offers.”

Paths at Cassiobury park, Waterfield Retail and Vicarage Road to Ebury Way will be undergoing improvements.

So far, vegetation trimming has taken place at the Green Loop East route.

Oxhey park and Riverside Park have also had improvements to their paths.
